2022 PGA Championship odds, picks: Tiger Woods’ predictions with proven model finish masters

Longtime rivals Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson have been included in the 2022 PGA Final, indicating their intent to play at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa next Thursday for their second major championship of the season. Woods is back in competitive golf at the 2022 Masters after suffering a serious road accident in early 2021. Meanwhile, Mickelson has been away from the PGA Tour for several months.

Mickelson won the PGA Championship last year at the age of 50 on Kiawah Island, but is back with a 100-1 long shot at Caesars Sportsbook’s latest 2022 PGA Championship prospect. Woods was surprised to make the cut at the Augusta National, but struggled all weekend and was 40-1 among the contenders for the 2022 PGA Championship, with Jon Ram being the 11-1 favorite. SportsLine’s ownership model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been super-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, it’s gone up nearly $7,500 on best bets since that point, tournament after tournament.

At the 2022 Masters, Model McClure was to win over Scotty Schaeffler’s first major championship win in his career before the weekend. The model also pinned Tiger Woods’ exact position in the Augusta National final before the tournament started (47). Additionally, McClure’s best bets included Colin Morikawa’s straight win at the 2021 Open, even though he was listed as a massive 40-1 shot.

This same model has also had a huge eight major contracts entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen huge returns.

Now that the formation of the 2022 PGA Championship stadium has begun, SportsLine has simulated the event 10,000 times, and the results are surprising. Head over to SportsLine now to see the predicted leaderboard for the 2022 PGA Championship.

Highest Model Predictions for the PGA Championship 2022

One huge surprise the model invites into the 2022 PGA Championship: McIlroy, a 20-time PGA Tour champion and one of the favorites, stumbles in the Southern Hills and just barely cracked the top 10. After winning two PGA Championships in three over the year, the Irishman struggled. Over his last seven matches, he has had only one in the top ten and has finished outside the top 25 four times.

McIlroy has had a solid season overall, but his attachments suggest he let two strokes in the track. He struggles with iron play, as he is 62nd in strokes gained as he gets close to the green, the worst mark of his career. His accuracy also doesn’t match his regular standards, with McIlroy ranking 73rd in the Greens in the regulatory percentage and outside of the top 100 in the driving accuracy percentage. McIlroy hasn’t topped the leaderboard in his last 29 major matches and his struggles with precision suggest that won’t change at Southern Hills.

The model also revealed where Tiger Woods will finish in the 2022 PGA Championship. Woods won his 13th career major at the 2007 PGA Championship, the last time Southern Hills hosted the event. After slowly exiting the gates with 71 taking him six shots off the lead in the first round, Woods tied the second-round record 63 to take the lead and never looked back. At the time, the 31-year-old looked like he could break Jack Nicklaus’ record of 19 wins at a major tournament.

Fast forward 15 years and Woods was only able to add two more majors to his resume thanks to injury and off-track issues. In addition to winning the 2019 Masters Championship, he also won the 2019 Zozo Championship to equal Sam Snead’s PGA Tour number of 82 victories. His health would be the biggest issue this time around at Southern Hills, as he seemed to work the entirety of his Masters last month.
